Here they go again

Seems the one from back in October was so successful that they decided to have another go at one. This time for two days.

In a day and age where comic book stores are more or less on a decline in the area, Mile High is still putting out despite a lot of adversity for various reasons, and somehow is ding amazingly well. I suppose that part of the secret is that Orion Tippens, the store manager, brings more of a sense of community to the feeling and comes out with an amazing result. People can not only buy comics there, they can also play role-playing games of varying sorts at the facility (there is a room that is dedicated to RP campaigns), people get to know the regulars, and one can go in and find said regulars hanging out at the store; aside from that, they sell other things besides comics. Yes, you'll find your huge array of comics (mainstream and small press), but you also find other things that aren't necessarily comics as well - posters, scifi stuff, and anime.

So that's where this comes in. An anime promotion.

The wish list involved showing the Animatrix (he had gotten incorrect information from somebody not affiliated with Warner, who profusely apologized about the confusion but "he's not our guy" and was probably a pirate) and an appearance by Amanda Winn-Lee (who regretfully had prior commitments with cable music video channel VH-1, but apparently will be showing up to the next event).

What they did get, however, was pretty cool. The freebies involve various and sundry posters, but people could also watch several anime that the store had gotten permission to show, and a lot of assistance by Squaresoft and ADV. It wasn't something on the scale of a convention by any means, but it worked out pretty well.

So here's our gallery.

As far as the photos in here go, please ask before you go using them. I know, but they're mine.

And speaking also of photos, the usual protocol for identifying cosplayers remains. Give the link and everything else. See the cosplay page for details.

Have fun,

-Dennis
